WORK FOR SALE: COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE
12"x16" , unframed, Oil on Canvas Board
Painted on site (Plein Air) on the Colunbia River Gorge in Oregon

Los Angeles area artist Antrese Wood was born and raised in Claremont, California in 1971. She received a B.F.A. from the Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena. After graduation, Antrese spent the next 12 years in the entertainment industry, primarily at Disney Interactive Studios. There she provided art direction for over 30 video game titles on diverse properties ranging from Winnie the Pooh to the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Throughout her career in the entertainment industry, Antrese continued to pursue her passion for painting, often leaving in the pre-dawn hours to paint the early morning light before heading off to work. Antrese is an avid hiker and backpacker and, despite soaring gas prices, still has difficulty resisting road trips. These forays offer an inexhaustible source of inspiration as she documents the changing California landscape. Trails, roads, electrical towers, and other man made features reveal human presence with varying degrees of impact. The constant push-pull of man and nature is a recurring theme in her work. The paved Los Angeles River and the city’s plan to allow it to grow back to its natural state sparked this fascination. In early 2007, Antrese left the security of a full time job to focus exclusively on her own vision as an artist. Since then she has continued to document the California landscape and began a figurative series on Los Angeles area musicians
